Microsoft is Dead: Windows is for grandmas

If your first entrepreneurial cycle occurred after the dot.com era, then you're probably saying "Where they ever alive?". For the rest us, Google is the new Microsoft. From Paul Graham's latest article:

Microsoft's
biggest weakness is that they still don't realize how much they
suck.  They still think they can write software in house.  Maybe they
can, by the standards of the desktop world.  But that world ended
a few years ago.

Paul's 4 reasons for why Microsoft is dead:

  1. Google: The webification of everything

  2. Ajax: Made web apps good.

  3. Internet: Fat pipes everywhere means less reliance on desktop software.

  4. Apple: The OS that all young entrepreneurs use.

  1. Actually, Ubuntu seems to be what all the young kids are using. Can't go a day without seeing something about Ubuntu on the front page of Digg.

  2. Mike - true - and it seems like a lot of them are using Mac hardware for Ubuntu.
